Committee structure
The Committee Chart shows the committee structure from the board through to the task force level:
- Board steering committees provide guidance on strategic direction and key issues.
- Working groups make recommendations to the board or committees of the board and provide advice to SIMA staff on matters within their various mandates.
- Task forces have specific, focused mandates; calls for volunteers are issued through our newsletter.
- Sub-group members are drawn from the membership of the committee or working group to which it reports and may be supplemented with others who have additional expertise as needed.

Board of Governors
Provides senior oversight and strategic guidance to support SIMA’s mandate, ensuring alignment between industry priorities and the association’s long-term direction.

Asset Management
Focuses on issues affecting asset managers, including regulation, product development, and market structure, to support a strong, competitive investment landscape.

ETF Steering Committee
Responsible for providing advice to SIMA’s Directors on all business and public policy matters specific to Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs).

Wealth Management
Addresses the needs of wealth managers and advisors, with a focus on investor outcomes, regulatory developments, and evolving client expectations.

Capital Markets
Covers issues related to capital markets participants, including market structure, trading practices, and regulatory developments affecting dealers and issuers.

Strategic Research
The Strategic Research Committee focuses on SIMA’s research agenda and guides SIMA’s industry data function.

Public Liaison
SIMA’s voice on all matters related to our strategic positioning as the authoritative voice of the Canadian investment funds industry.
